Chelsea are currently 8 points behind Leicester City who are third in the league, and a win for the Blues will reduce the gap to just 5 points.
However, Chelsea have a big game this weekend against Leicester City, as the Blues visit the Foxes in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City played the second leg of the their semi-final Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa on Tuesday and were beaten 2-1 by the Villans who knocked them out of the tie.
Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers kept key striker Jamie Vardy on the bench as he decided to rest him ahead of this weekend’s massive clash. “He has obviously trained the last few days,” Rodgers told Sky Sports.
“He is not 100 per cent, but we feel that he can make an impact from the bench if we need him.
“We didn’t want to risk it from the start, especially when we have Kels [Kelechi Iheanacho], who has been in great form. “He [Vardy] is a great weapon for us though to come into the game.”
Rodgers rested him for this game ahead of the Chelsea clash, and after the defeat, the Foxes boss admitted that his side will be all out to secure a top four place.
