“Am sorry but you have to leave Chelsea” – Enzo Maresca tells 25-years-old Chelsea star after dropping him ahead of new season

Prior to the upcoming season, Chelsea has decided to remove Trevoh Chalobah from the team.

Trevoh Chalobah, a 25-year-old graduate of the Chelsea academy, was not included in Chelsea’s 28-man preseason roster, according to reports.

Chalobah may depart Chelsea permanently this summer after joining the team when he was eight years old.

Many Premier League teams have already expressed interest in signing Chalobah, but Chelsea is willing to pay more than £30 million for him.

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has said it’s a sad situation, but insisted that Chelsea do not need Chalobah, due to the number of defenders in the current squad.

Asked about Chalobah’s situation in his first pre-season press conference in Santa Clara on Tuesday evening, Maresca said: “First of all, from my point of view, it’s always sad to leave players out, that can be out of a pre-season, or can be out of the squad or out of the first eleven because in the end they all work for the same target, that is to be part of the same team.

“The Trevoh situation for me is quite clear, we have Axel [Disasi] there, we have Tosin [Adarabioyo] there, we have Wes [Fofana] who in these two weeks has worked very good and is finally back, we have some very young profiles like Josh Acheampong who is doing fantastic.

“It’s a sad decision but we have to take the decision.”

Chalobah still has four years remaining on his current contract with Chelsea. The centre-back made 13 Premier League appearances last season after missing the first six months of the campaign with a hamstring injury.
