“Am suffering for what they did wrong” “I blamed them for Chelsea downfall” – Pochettino blames these two Chelsea man for Chelsea downfall
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has taken a dig at his predecessors Frank Lampard and Graham Potter, following their disappointing spell last season.
Pochettino has blamed the poor atmosphere at Stamford Bridge on what went on before him.
Chelsea finished 12th last season, and were poor in all competitions, which has brought a sour atmosphere at the Bridge.
Pochettino concedes that his team needs to start winning to lift up the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge.
Ahead of their Carabao Cup semifinal second-leg clash with Middlesbrough, he said: “We are now paying for the effect of the 18 months before my time.
“I arrived this season and it’s only been six months. It is true that we are getting better results now, but the disappointment from the fans comes from earlier and from last season.
“For a few periods in some games, like against Brentford or Nottingham Forest, the energy was really down because the team didn’t engage the fans. It was our mistake. But in the rest of the matches the fans were really good.”
