Marina Granovskaia has reportedly held a meeting with the representatives of Antonio Conte, the result of which may frustrate you.
Conte appeared to be a dead man walking throughout the latter stages of the 2017/18 campaign. There didn’t appear to be any way back for the Italian at Stamford Bridge following our pathetic title defence.
Reports have suggested that Maurizio Sarri is very close to replacing Conte as Chelsea manager. His appointment is now considered more of a fact than a possibility, it’s just thought to be a matter of time.
This report from Italian publication Il Mattino, however, suggests that the deal may not be as close to completion as it was initially thought. It’s suggested that Conte is holding his ground and will not be leaving without putting up a fight.
Il Mattino believe that Granovskaia met with Conte’s entourage to discuss how the remainder of his Chelsea contract will be paid. It doesn’t appear as though any agreement was found, which blocks Sarri’s route into Stamford Bridge.
We’ll keep you updated on the situation as the reports come in…
