Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has attracted heavy interest from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, and the Spanish club are set to make a move for the Chelsea defender.
Alonso has fallen behind Emerson Palmieri in the pecking order at Chelsea and hasn’t played a single game since he was subbed off at half-time in the 4-4 draw against Ajax.
Alonso has played just seven times for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, scoring once and providing two assists.
Alonso has even struggled to make the bench since his below par performance against Ajax, and according to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.
The La Liga giants have lined up a move for Alonso as they look to bolster their defensive options after a disappointing start to the campaign.
Atletico are set to make a move in the January transfer window for the Spaniard, and will try to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy, as they did with Alvaro Morata.
Despite their interest and Alonso’s lack of game time, it’s yet to be seen whether Chelsea will let the Spaniard leave in January.
