Benoit Badiashile hits at Chelsea man after costing silly mistakes in 4-1 defeat to Newcastle.. ‘ Must be dropped?

Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile was not too happy with one of his team-mates in his side’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

Benoit Badiashile was making his first Premier League start of the season after injury and it did not end well.

While they went on to lose 4-1 in the end, Chelsea did not play too badly in the first half. However, that did not stop Badiashile from losing his cool with Lesley Ugochukwu during one moment in the first 45 minutes of the game, which was picked up by football.london.

According to the outlet, there was a phase of play where the ball looked there to be won from Badiashile’s position, only for Ugochukwu to get in his way, which resulted in the former lashing out at the latter after the ball had eventually gone out.

It was the kind of day for Mauricio Pochettino, who had to watch from the stands after an accumulation of yellow cards this season, to forget.

It was certainly not Ugochukwu’s finest hour, but the Frenchman is not to blame for Chelsea’s defeat.

Newcastle United at St James’ Park is a tough game for any footballer, let alone a 19-year-old like Ugochukwu, who just joined the Blues in a £23.2m deal (BBC Sport).

Those who need to take responsibility are Marc Cucurella, Thiago Silva and Reece James, the more experienced players in the squad.

Cucurella did not cover himself in glory for Newcastle’s first goal when he tried to step up and play offside, Silva made a very bad mistake for the third, while James left it all for his team-mates to do after he picked up a silly second yellow card — which his manager was not pleased with.

Each one of that trio should have done better on the day, but what’s done is done now. Chelsea now have to try and bounce back when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion next Sunday.
