“Best fit for Chelsea project” – Oscar names three managers who can replace Pochettino at Chelsea
Oscar, a former Chelsea player, expressed his feelings on Tuesday night following the unexpected announcement of Mauricio Pochettino’s firing from the team.
Despite finishing in sixth place, Chelsea’s season was unsatisfactory, and they parted ties with former PSG boss, Leonardo Pochettino.
The club owners have struck a mutual understanding to part ways because they are unhappy with the caliber of football the squad played under Pochettino.
Just hours after Pochettino’s resignation, the Blues have returned to the transfer market in search of a replacement, and several names have already been connected to the team.
Along with Brighton’s De Zerbi, former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has also been connected to the team; however, it is yet unknown who the club will be going with.
After being fired, former Chelsea attacker Oscar talked about his feelings regarding the club’s current project and who he believed the team will most likely target.
“We see they are going after something, we see they have a target, they have a high taste but just haven’t gotten the right manager to do it,” Oscar said.
“I feel sacking Tuchel was maybe a hasty decision that’s clearly not the best at the time but the mistake has been made and they have to quickly fix things. We know it hasn’t gone well for the club since then.
“Personally I think they have names they are already looking at, I mean it’s their call to make but I still think a manager like Hansi Flick can fit the project more, cause of how he was able to operate at Bayern Munich.
“It’s similar project we have now at Chelsea, Flick is a systematic person and seem more focused on team performance than new signings, I think he is good option.
“Another manager I see that can do a good job as well is Zinedine Zidane but I am a bit skeptical cause the English League is a different ball game but considering that Zidane focused more on team performance too. Maybe he is a good option.
“Allegri is also a good name in this discussion, I personally feel he can deliver if the club trusts him but hey it all boils down to what the club wants right? So we just have to watch and see what they bring to the table and who they onboard.”
