Frank Lampard has been told to sign a striker that is better than Tammy Abraham.
Despite a few critical performances from Abraham at the beginning of the season, the Blues hitman has repaid the faith in him by Lampard by becoming one of the best strikers in the Premier League, with 12-goals already to his name.
His performances for Chelsea in the opening weeks of the season has also led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud could actually leave the club and seek a move elsewhere, as he is not happy with playing second fiddle to the Englishman. Now, ESPN FC pundit Robson believes that a new striker is the only position Chelsea head coach Lampard needs to address, and he needs to find a player that is better than Abraham.
“I’m not sure three’s too much that they need to improve, I just think they need to be more consistent,” Robson said. “I don’t think that will come through buying players, I just think he needs to get his team selection right, he needs to get the players playing.
“I think probably he’s given up on Giroud as a second striker so he probably needs cover for Tammy Abraham. “Tammy Abraham’s done quite well but I’m sure if they can get a second striker or one that’s better than Tammy Abraham, that would be a good signing.”
Look Abraham is now a full England International and a proven goal-scorer in the Premier League, so Chelsea don’t need to buy a striker that will come in and replace the Englishman, they need someone to help the young man out.
Lampard has a big challenge on his hands to get the best out of his talented players and push on for some silverware, so if he can add another striker to help Abraham out, it will be interesting to see just whom it is
