BREAKING: Another Chelsea star out of the season as Enzo Maresca cries out for replacement
Wesley Fofana’s hamstring injury is more serious than first believed, according to Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who may have to sideline the defender for the rest of the 2024–2025 campaign.
Speaking to reporters, Maresca expressed his disappointment at the news:
“Unfortunately, he could be out for the season. We don’t know [timeframe] exactly, but he could be out for most part of the season.”
The Chelsea boss reiterated his admiration for Fofana, highlighting the defender’s significance to the team:
“Every time you ask me about Wes, I said many times I am in love with Wes.”
Maresca explained how the severity of the injury became clear after further tests:
“It was the first update and the first information we had, but having a test, we realised it was worse than what we thought at the beginning. It is hamstring, and unfortunately, we are going to lose him for a while.”
This injury marks a significant setback for Chelsea as they navigate a demanding season. Fofana’s absence will force Maresca to explore alternative defensive options moving forward.
