BREAKING: Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard to miss Chelsea clash after latest development
Ahead of Aston Villa vs Chelsea clash, Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard has returned a positive Covid-19 test, Aston Villa have announced.
However, it was claimed that The Villa head coach will enter quarantine and won’t attend the next two games against Chelsea and Leeds.
Gerrard is double-vaccinated so he’ll have to self-isolate for a week.
We would like to wish the Liverpool legend a quick recovery.
Like Chelsea and several other Premier League clubs, Aston Villa are experiencing a Covid-19 outbreak within the squad.
Speaking earlier this week: Gerrard said that he hopes the Chelsea game would go ahead despite losing several players to the virus.
“At the moment we’ve got enough to play and I expect the game to go ahead. I hope it goes ahead,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“It’s a game we’re very much looking forward to.
“But in terms of the Covid picture and the situation here at Villa, it’s changing on a daily basis, so it’s very unpredictable and hard to cope.”
