Chelsea have reportedly been one of the teams to make contact with the agent of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez over a potential transfer.
However, The 22-year-old centre-forward has shone for Nerazzurri this campaign, looking an outstanding talent who could no doubt make a great fit at most of Europe’s top clubs.
Blues are joined by the likes of Man City, PSG and Bayern Munich as having approached Lautaro’s agent about a potential deal. Chelsea could do with strengthening upfront at the moment, with youngster Tammy Abraham under a lot of pressure after being promoted to the first choice at Stamford Bridge this campaign.
With most of Tammy’s prior experience coming in the Championship with loan spells at Bristol City and Aston Villa, it’s a big ask for him to now be the first choice for a club of Blues size. Lautaro joined the Serie A giants from Racing in 2018 with a €25m deal.
And while the England international has performed well, it makes sense that Chelsea might be keen on alternatives, especially with Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud not looking like having the trust of coach Frank Lampard after limited playing time.
Argentina international, meanwhile, has 15 goals in all tournaments this season and it’s easy to imagine the 22-year-old striker will only continue to get better.
With Blues transfer ban now over, it makes sense that they could now have money saved up and ready to spend, and his £94m release clause would be no issue for the Blues.
