BREAKING: Chelsea makes final decision on Robert Sanchez until the end of the season
Chelsea have decided against pursuing a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window, reaffirming their commitment to first-choice shot-stopper Robert Sanchez despite his inconsistent performances this season.
Manager Enzo Maresca has even voiced slight criticism of Sanchez’s mistakes, but the club remains confident in his abilities for the remainder of the campaign.
The Blues already have Filip Jorgensen, but he remains number two.
However, no immediate alternative to Sanchez will be available this season, leaving Chelsea reliant on the Spaniard to anchor their defence as they push to meet their objectives.
Earlier this season, Chelsea loaned Kepa Arrizabalaga to Bournemouth, further limiting their options in goal. While this move provided Kepa with the opportunity for regular first-team football, it left Chelsea with less depth in a key position.
Reports suggest that Chelsea’s management acknowledges the need for an elite goalkeeper and another central defender to challenge for the Premier League title. However, those reinforcements will have to wait until the summer, as Maresca’s squad must make do with their current roster to navigate the rest of the season.
