BREAKING: Chelsea star withdraws from international duty due to injury
Malo Gusto, the right-back for Chelsea, has withdrawn from the current international break because of a thigh ailment.
Gusto will be unable to participate in the forthcoming international break matches for France’s U21 team.
The right-back is one of the three players who have pulled out of the starting lineup, according to confirmation from the French Football Federation.
The French Federation said in a statement: “Three French players had to withdraw from the first day of the French Espoirs team gathering, Monday, September 2 at the CNF Clairefontaine. Malo Gusto (thigh injury), Andy Diouf (adductors) and Maxime Estève (wrist injury) were forced to withdraw.”
Gusto got a knock in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, and it’s been yet to be determined how severe it is.
Enzo Maresca will be hoping to have the Frenchman available for action once club football resumes in a fortnight, with Reece James still nursing fitness problems.
