BREAKING: Ex Chelsea star rushed to hospital hours before kickoff

Former Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was rushed to the hospital for emergency appendicitis just hours before AC Milan’s crucial Serie A clash against Napoli on Sunday night.

The England international, who spent nearly two decades at Chelsea before joining Milan in 2023, was expected to start the game but was struck down by severe abdominal pain at the team hotel on Saturday night. Reports from Italy confirm that he was swiftly taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis.

The 29-year-old is now set to undergo surgery to remove his appendix, marking another unfortunate setback in a season that has already been disrupted by injuries. Loftus-Cheek had only just recovered from a lengthy muscle injury and was due to make his first start since November.

AC Milan later released an official statement confirming the surgery, stating: “AC Milan announces that Ruben Loftus-Cheek underwent laparoscopic appendectomy today for acute abscessed appendicitis. The operation, performed by Professor Francesco Corcione and his team, was a complete success.”

Loftus-Cheek was a beloved figure among Chelsea fans, having come through the club’s academy and making over 150 appearances for the Blues. Injuries often hampered his progress at Stamford Bridge, and sadly, he has encountered similar struggles in Italy.

Chelsea fans will undoubtedly be wishing Loftus-Cheek a swift recovery as he looks to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.
