Callum Hudson-Odoi is as close as ever to signing a new contract with Chelsea, as per reports from Daily Mail.
The media outlet understands that Chelsea have increased their wage offer to the teenager who is set to earn up to £200,000 per week. That is twice as much as the same source claimed as Hudson-Odoi’s new salary last month.
The negotiations on the new deal started back in April, and since then the player has almost finished his recovery from an Achilles injury while the club have changed the manager.
Frank Lampard has declared that Hudson-Odoi is very much in his plans despite his current deal expiring next summer.
“The one thing that’s clear to me is I want to keep him here. He’s a player we cherish.
Players who come through the academy are the present and the future of the club so we’re doing everything we can to get there. I hope it’s news to be confirmed soon,” the boss said three weeks ago.
On Tuesday, Hudson-Odoi has returned to training with the first-team squad, although it is not yet clear when he can make a comeback to the pitch.
Most likely, it will happen after the September international break.
