Spanish media have released photographs of the fatal car crash involving Diogo Jota, the Liverpool forward, and his brother, who both perished in the Zamora province of Spain. The Guardia Civil confirmed that the two died around 00:30 local time.

The heartbreaking aftermath of the Lamborghini ‘fireball’ crash that resulted in the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother.
This is the sorrowful aftermath of the catastrophic crash that took the life of Liverpool star Diogo Jota, whose Lamborghini veered off the road in northern Spain.
The Portuguese forward tragically lost his life in the early hours of Thursday while traveling in the supercar near Zamora with his brother Andre, 26, who also died in the incident.
Jota was en route to Santander to board an overnight ferry back to the UK in preparation for the start of Liverpool’s pre-season training on Monday, having been advised against flying following lung surgery, as reported in his home country today.
His premature passing at the age of 28 has sent shockwaves across the globe, occurring just 11 days after he married his childhood sweetheart, a day he emotionally described yesterday as ‘a day we will never forget’.
It is believed that the Lamborghini’s tyre blew out while overtaking on the A-52 near the town of Cernadilla, close to Zamora in northwestern Spain, near the Portuguese border.
The supercar veered off the road, rolled over, and ignited shortly after 12:30 AM (11:30 PM UK time) on Thursday.
Emergency services were alerted, but unfortunately, the brothers could not be rescued and were reportedly identified through the vehicle’s number plate.
Disturbing footage reveals the burnt remains of the supercar overturned on the side of the main road, with emergency personnel seen conducting an investigation nearby.
Video footage acquired by Spanish media captures the car’s path until it departed the road and erupted into flames.
Tire marks indicate where the Lamborghini lost control, and fragments of the central reservation are scattered across the ground.
The Prince of Wales, who also serves as the President of the FA, expressed his ‘deep sadness’ upon learning of Jota’s passing, stating: ‘Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him.’
In the meantime, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo – who celebrated winning the Nations League with Jota less than a month prior – remarked that the star’s death ‘makes no sense’, adding: ‘We will all miss you.’
Jota had recently wed Rute Cardoso, the mother of his three children, and referred to himself as the luckiest man in the world to be her husband, sharing heartfelt footage from their wedding day in his last Instagram post on Wednesday afternoon.
The couple tied the knot on June 22 in Porto, the footballer’s hometown. Rute posted additional wedding day photos on social media yesterday, stating: ‘My dream come true.’ Jota responded in the comments: ‘I’m the lucky one.’
