BREAKING: Scary player joins Chelsea. Signs contract with Blues until 2033
Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, with the highly-rated defender putting pen to paper on a long-term contract that runs until 2033.
The 19-year-old arrives at Stamford Bridge after a breakthrough season in France, where he played a pivotal role in Strasbourg’s impressive 2024/25 campaign. Sarr made 28 appearances across all competitions, including 27 starts in Ligue 1, helping the club secure a seventh-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Conference League play-off round.
Sarr’s football journey began in the academy of RC Lens before a move to Lyon, where he progressed through the youth ranks and made his senior debut during the 2022/23 season. After a short loan stint at Belgian side RWD Molenbeek, he joined Strasbourg in August 2024 and quickly became a mainstay in their backline.
A composed and commanding presence at the heart of defence, Sarr is also a France Under-20 international and has represented his country at multiple youth levels, underlining his status as one of the brightest defensive talents in Europe.
