Chelsea announce ball-playing defender has signed until 2027 – confirms late summer move

Bashir Humphreys has signed a new four-year contract with Chelsea and will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Swansea City.

The transfer window is now done and dusted and CHELSEA have seemingly managed to get the players the club wanted in order to take the side into the future under boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Humphreys is seen as a great prospect for the future and a lad that they believe that could challenge for a first team spot in the coming years.

Chelsea announced on the club website: ‘The centre-back has signed a deal until 2027 – with the club option of a further year – and will continue his development at the Swansea.com Stadium this season.

It will be the defender’s second spell away from Chelsea, after a successful four-month loan to German side SC Paderborn last season, where he made 13 appearances.

The centre-back, captain of the development squad in the first half of last season, excelled on our summer pre-season tour of America, appearing in all five of our matches stateside.

‘Humphreys will now continue his development in the second tier of English football.

Good luck, Bashir!’
