Chelsea are ready to sign £25m player who Arsenal sold last year
After years of buying almost every player on the planet, somehow, Chelsea still need more reinforcements this summer.
Chelsea have defensive issues at the moment, so a new centre-back may be needed, while Chelsea have also been courting a new striker.
Meanwhile, the goalkeeper position has been a problem for Chelsea as of late.
Robert Sanchez has been heavily criticised this season, and he’s ultimately been dropped for Filip Jorgensen.
Jorgensen hasn’t proven to be a huge upgrade on Sanchez, and now, Chelsea are in the market for another goalkeeper.
Speaking on KS1 TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Chelsea’s goalkeeping sitiation, and according to the journalist, the Blues are ready to make a move for Aaron Ramsdale.
Chelsea ready to move for Aaron Ramsdale
Kay shared what he knows about Ramsdale and Chelsea’s interest.
According to the journalist, Ramsdale wasn’t keen on a move to Chelsea last summer, but he says that there is now another offer on the table from the west London outfit.
“Before he signed for Southampton, at the time, there were so many goalkeepers at Chelsea, and Ramsdale didn’t want that situation, he had that at Arsenal,” Kay said.
“Since then, there’s an offer on the table for Ramsdale to possibly go to Chelsea. Yeah, my indication is that the goalkeepers there, Sanchez and Jorgensen just aren’t up to standard, and it makes a lot of sense.”
Aaron Ramsdale stats this season
Chelsea could move for Ramsdale just one year on from his £25m departure from Arsenal.
Chelsea were interested in Ramsdale last summer, and it would appear as though that interest hasn’t waned.
That’s in spite of the fact that Ramsdale is having another difficult season.
Indeed, the stats show that Ramsdale is having a poor season to say the least.
However, a goalkeeper can’t necessarily be judged on his entire team’s shortcomings.
Ramsdale has been here before, he was relegated with both Sheffield United and Bournemouth before almost helping Arsenal to a Premier League title.
Meanwhile, Jordan Pickford was relegated in embarrassing fashion with Sunderland, and now, Pickford is a world-class goalkeeper.
Ramsdale is proven at the top level in the Premier League, and Chelsea could do a lot worse than re-signing the former Arsenal.
