French newspaper Sud-Ouest are reporting Chelsea have held talks with the representatives of Bordeaux star Malcom over a summer transfer, though they face competition from Liverpool according to reports in France.

The report confirms Chelsea are in pole position in signing Malcom with Liverpool yet to formally make an approach.

The Brazilian youngster is one of the hottest talents in Europe after a stellar campaign in which he scored 12 goals and laid on a further seven assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances.

Malcom’s agent Fernando Garcia – who played a key role in his move from Corinthians to Bordeaux too – is driving the prospective move and met with Chelsea bosses in London.

The Brazilian born star has gleaned interest from Jurgen Klopp who wants to make further additions to squad to mount a Premier League title challenge next term.

But according to French paper L’Equipe, the Reds have been ‘silent’ insofar as negotiations go.

Bordeaux are holding out for £44m ($58.96m) for a player who is highly sought after.
