Chelsea believe they are pole position to land Callum Wilson when the January transfer window opens, reports say.
The Bournemouth striker has enjoyed his best Premier League season to date, with eight goals and six assists in his first 15 appearances.
Maurizio Sarri is determined to add more firepower to his Chelsea squad in January, with Alvaro Morata continuing to misfire and Olivier Giroud the only other striker in the team.
The Daily Express claim Chelsea are confident they will sign Wilson and are happy to meet Bournemouth’s £30m asking price.
Wilson’s reputation has soared in recent months, with the 26-year-old earning his first call-up to the England squad this season.
Bournemouth paid just £3m for Wilson and could make an incredible profit on the forward should they decide to cash in.
But Eddie Howe has expressed a reluctance to part with Wilson, and Chelsea may face a battle to lure the goalscorer away from Bournemouth mid-way through the season.
‘Callum is focusing on his football and we are not anticipating losing any players in January we don’t want to,’ Howe said.
‘He seems very happy, he has a spring in his step, he is buzzing around the training ground and there is a very good feel about him.’
Chelsea are expected to sign at least one player in the January window, as Sarri looks to build on an excellent start to his tenure.
Wilson is currently recovering from an injury, but is expected to feature against Wolves on Saturday.
