Chelsea complete signing of Colombian forward on a four-year deal
Chelsea have completed the signing of Colombian international forward Mayra Ramírez on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this afternoon.
Ramírez joins Chelsea from Spanish top flight club Levante where she has spent the last 18 months of her career. The player has scored 20 goals in 34 games for Levante in the finetwork Liga F. Ramírez has also turned out for Real Pasión and Sporting de Huelva in her senior career to date.
On the international stage, Ramírez has collected 30 senior caps for Colombia and she represented her country at the FIFA Women’s World Cup last summer. The 24-year-old played against new club teammates Millie Bright and Jess Carter in Colombia’s 2-1 quarter-final defeat to England.
After securing her move to Chelsea, Ramírez said “I am very honoured to be a part of Chelsea. To be part of such a huge club is a dream come true and one I’ve had since I was a little girl.”
Ramírez becomes Chelsea manager Emma Hayes’ second signing of the January transfer window. Her arrival will help fill the void left by Sam Kerr’s ongoing rehabilitation from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)injury.
