Chelsea are reportedly considering a move to hijack Manchester City’s proposed deal to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
Jorginho has been linked with a move to the Etihad for several weeks now. The expectation was that this deal would have been concluded by now, but as you will be well aware of, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is a renown hard-baller.
Chelsea are experiencing problems of their own with Napoli. We’ve been trying to agree a deal for Maurizio Sarri’s release for some time now, but similarly to City’s pursuit of Jorginho, we have been unable to get the deal over the line.
According to Sportitalia, Chelsea believe they have found a solution to overcome the current Sarri impasse. If we offer Napoli €60M in exchange for Jorginho, bettering City’s offer for the Italian, they could agree to let us have Sarri.
Napoli would receive their full valuation of Jorginho, while Chelsea would be signing an extremely accomplished midfielder, along with finally being able to appoint Sarri. This is an interesting option, and one to genuinely consider.
