Chelsea could be set to launch a deadline day bid for Inter Milan centre-forward Mauro Icardi.
This information comes from CaughtOffside, who claim that Chelsea do not feel as though Alvaro Morata is sufficient firepower in attack.
A new striker could emerge as a target on the final day of the window, with Icardi being mooted as an option for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
The caveat – his price-tag. Inter Milan are thought to be demanding £100M in exchange for their prize asset. That’s a price Chelsea are not willing to pay.
CaughtOffside do note, however, that should Chelsea raise some further cash through player sales in the next 24 hours, a bid for Icardi could be launched.
After it emerged that Valencia are still hopeful of signing Michy Batshuayi on-loan, it would come as no surprise if we found ourselves in need of a striker on deadline day.
Convincing Inter to sell Icardi would be a tough ask. We’ll have to wait and see if there’s anything in this one.
