Chelsea may well be set to do the unthinkable and actually sign Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.
If you told us at the start of the summer that Higuain would be the striker we’re chasing, we would have struggled to believe you.
First of all, we didn’t think there to be even the remotest possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo would sign for Juventus this summer, freeing up Higuain to depart.
We also assumed that Marina Granovskaia and Roman Abramovich would serve Maurizio Sarri an abrupt ‘no‘ if he asked for the Argentine.
Higuain is 30-years-old, which means club policy would only allow us to offer him a rolling one-year contract.
It seems likely we’d recruit him for a hefty fee only to run the risk of losing him on a Bosman the following summer.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, we haven’t been put off by the previously mentioned details. Instead, we’re prepared to break the bank to sign him.
Pedulla claims that Chelsea and Juventus will meet in the coming days to thrash out a deal for Higuain worth between £54M-£57M.
Would you be happy with that, Blues?
