Chelsea have reportedly drawn up a three-man list of potential replacements for Thibaut Courtois, who could be off to Real Madrid.
While we remain in the dark over Courtois’ future, it’s safe to say that the Belgian will not be here long-term.
His family live in Madrid, and Courtois has decided against signing a contract extension. He has just one-year left to run.
Chelsea have to either sell him now or face losing him on a free transfer next summer. It’s not an easy decision, but we have to cash-in while we still can.
Courtois’ leaving would not be a disaster if he was adequately replaced. Chelsea are already working on a replacement.
According to Standard Sport, AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel and Arsenal’s Petr Cech are all potential targets.
Donnarumma is perhaps the only one of the three whose arrival would genuinely excite Chelsea fans. We should pursue him before looking elsewhere.
