Chelsea fans all saying the same-thing after what Pedro Neto did on his debut against Manchester city
Among the Chelsea rookies who played in the team’s Sunday defeat to Manchester City was Pedro Neto.
Chelsea succumbed to Man City 2-0 at home in their Premier League debut this past weekend. Mateo Kovacic and Erling Haaland’s goals at Stamford Bridge gave the visitors the win.
Enzo Maresca, the head coach of the Blues, started his term in West London with a loss to the reigning champions. The team’s next league encounter is on the road at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, and the first leg of the Conference League play-offs against Servette is scheduled for this Thursday night.
Today, four players made their Chelsea debuts, including 24-year-old Pedro Neto. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu, and Neto all come off the bench for club debuts.
The summer signing replaced Christopher Nkunku on the left wing in the 58th minute and had a couple of bright sparks. Neto thinks speed and one-on-one dribbling is his greatest strength, which is something the fanbase saw a glimpse of.
Chelsea fans agree on Pedro Neto
Many Chelsea supporters on social media all agreed that Neto needs to be in their starting line-up moving forward after his cameo display versus Man City.
Here are some Blues fans on X discussing the Portuguese winger:
One fan wrote: “Neto need to start.”
Another claimed: “If we play this system then Neto has to start, not because he might be good or anything but he’s more suited to play as the touchline winger than anyone else at this club.”
A third user shared: “Neto has to start no questions asked.”
One supporter posted: “Next game start Neto at left wing & let Nkunku play as the 10 behind Jackson…”
Another said: “Neto starts for me next weekend.”
There’s a lot more to come from Pedro Neto
Neto showed glimpses of quality during his first half an hour as a Chelsea player, certainly enough to encourage the supporters. However, there’s so much more to come from the rapid winger once he’s settled in at his new home.
His £54m transfer (BBC) from Wolves could turn out to be a brilliant piece of business if he keeps fit and fulfils his potential.
He got his first minutes for the Blues on the left wing, where he’s great driving at a full-back. He’s capable of playing more centrally in attack or on the right wing, too.
It’s a very good sign for him that he’s already won over fans, plus got some minutes today while Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke were left on the bench.
