Chelsea are (finally) close to completing a deal to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
In a summer that Chelsea have appeared intent on dragging things out as long as possible, they have done so once again with Rugani.
First it was reluctance to cough up the cash to fire Antonio Conte. Then we struggled to convince Napoli to allow Maurizio Sarri to leave.
For several weeks now it has been suggested that Rugani’s arrival is only a matter of time. Yet, no deal has been completed.
That may be about to change…
According to Standard Sport, Chelsea could soon complete the deal to sign Italy international Rugani from Juventus.
Rugani will add an extra pinch of quality to Maurizio Sarri’s back-line. As per the report, he’ll set us back around £44.2M.
His arrival may well indicate the end for Gary Cahill. It’s hard to see where our captain fits under Sarri.
