Leicester City are reportedly prepared to re-sign Danny Drinkwater this summer – but Chelsea would be forced to sell at a loss.
Drinkwater signed for Chelsea on deadline day last summer. His acquisition reeked of desperation.
Chelsea’s lust for home-grown players led them to consider signing Drinkwater, and a lack of options saw the move materialise, at the displeasure of the fans.
According to Team Talk, Leicester are prepared to offer Drinkwater an escape route this summer in the shape of a return to the club.
In order for him to seal a move away from Stamford Bridge, though, Chelsea will have to accept that they won’t recoup the £35M they paid for him just a year ago.
Team Talk believe that Leicester will offer £20M for Drinkwater, but no more. Though frustrating, that does seem like a fair price.
Chelsea have little chance of banking much more for him than that. If the Foxes table a bid in that region, we ought to accept it.
