Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admits Chelsea have missed Christian Pulisic in recent gameweeks. It’s still unclear when the U.S. national team skipper will return from a thigh injury.
Pulisic had established himself as a key character for Chelsea. He started the season on the bench. In gameweek 10, Pulisic scored a perfect hat-trick against Burnley. Post that game he became a regular on the pitch.
Pulisic has been out since playing in the 1-1 draw at Brighton on New Year’s Day. He did not travel for Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at King Power Stadium on Saturday. Lampard is expecting the upcoming winter break will help the progression of getting Pulisic back on to the pitch.
“It is hard to answer [on when he will be back]. We tried to get him out this week and step it up a little bit but we had to pull out of that. So the break might have come at a good time because it buys us a couple of weeks.” Lampard told correspondents at the King Power Stadium.
Tammy Abraham’s form dipped horribly before getting a knock. Which affected the whole Chelsea side. As he is the only clinical goalscorer they have right now. In the absence of Pulisic, Reece James has arguably become Chelsea’s most skillful player. The teenage right-back earning credit for his crossing talent.
The 19-year-old was luckless not to enlist an assist with a host of hazardous balls against Leicester. Frank Lampard’s delighted to see his homegrown star evolve in the coming months. Chelsea now has just over two weeks to get ready to face Manchester United. With the Premier League launching a winter break this season before Euro 2020 in the summer.
There has been a mixed response to the intro of the break. The Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp irritated that his side has an FA replay when others are away. However, Lampard is a fan and explained how he will use the intermission.
