Chelsea youngster Reece James has become an important first team player for Chelsea under Frank Lampard.
The 20-year-old has proven himself in the first team when given the opportunity, and the Blues are keen to tie him down with a new deal.
Reece James current deal expires in 2022 as he’s still on the basic wages that he signed as a 17-year-old.
James is seen as a long-term successor for Cesar Azpilicueta, and according to the Telegraph, James wants to stay in west London and is close to putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.
James’ crosses has been likened to that of Manchester United great David Beckham, and the 20-year-old has shown enough charisma in games to prove that he is up to the task of being in the Chelsea first team.
The likes of Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fikayo Tomori have also tied their futures to the club under Frank Lampard.
However, the Blues boss is also keen to get Tammy Abraham and Tariq Lamptey tied to new deals as well.
