Chelsea have been linked with a surprise summer move for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.
Lingard was once somewhat of a laughing stock at Old Trafford, but his stock has risen considerably while Jose Mourinho has held the reins a the club.
Mourinho valued Lingard’s physical and dynamic attributes over what his more talented counterparts had to offer.
The 25-year-old was subsequently handed plenty of game-time for Man United, which aided his progression into a far more accomplished player than he was before.
Lingard is now a cornerstone in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and has played his part in the Three Lions’ success in the tournament so far.
He appears to have no reason to leave Man United at the time of writing, but football finance expert Kieran Maguire has been discussing the possibility of it with the Daily Star.
It’s believed that Man United would demand a fee in the region of £80M for Lingard, with Chelsea being the most likely destination.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for this one to happen…
