Chelsea loaned midfielder will return to Chelsea in days

The January transfer window is open again, which means that players could arrive at Chelsea at any moment. That doesn’t just mean new arrivals however, it could also mean returning loan players.

One of those almost certain to come back, at least according to The Sun today, is Danny Drinkwater.

The midfielder has been at Burnley on loan, and it’s gone about as well as his move to Chelsea from Leicester. He’s barely played, got himself in trouble with his manager and got himself injured. Not exactly a roaring success.

The only good news for DD, and for us, is that he’s been linked with a fresh move already in the same article.

They say that Aston Villa could be interested in taking the Premier League winner for the second half of the season.

It hardly seems like the brightest move for a Villa team that are sinking like a stone right now, seemingly through lack of goals rather than through lack of unreliable central midfielders, but who are we to judge their transfer policy?

If they want Danny, they are doing us a favour by taking him.
