Chelsea have reportedly submitted a bid for Juventus centre-back Mattia Caldara, as Maurizio Sarri continues to hunt for defensive reinforcements.
Daniele Rugani is thought to have been Sarri’s top target to improve our back-line. He worked with the 23-year-old previously during their time at Empoli.
Rugani has shown little willingness to force through a move to Stamford Bridge, however, and Juventus do not appear to have any reason to sell him this summer.
It’d come as no surprise if Chelsea moved onto alternative targets. Time is running out in the transfer window, we can’t waste any more.
According to reports in Italy, a bid has been submitted for Caldara, who spent last season on-loan with Atalanta.
Chelsea are believed to have offered €40M for the Italy international, and there’s a belief that a deal could be done if we bump that up to €45M.
We’d be very surprised if Chelsea didn’t bring in another centre-back in the next fortnight. Let’s wait and see who it’ll be.
