Chelsea midfielder Marco Van Ginkel is set to miss eight months of action after undergoing knee surgery.
This is heartbreaking. Van Ginkel was already forced to spend a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture against Swindon Town back in 2013.
The Dutchman worked his way back up to fitness and regained his best performance level out on-loan with PSV Eindhoven. Last season, he captained the Eredivisie side to the league title, scoring 14 goals in 28 appearances from midfield.
We wondered what the future held for Van Ginkel, whether it would include an opportunity in the Chelsea first-team or a permanent move elsewhere. We may well have to wait a while to find out…
Chelsea have revealed on the club’s official website that Van Ginkel will miss eight months of action after undergoing successful knee surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see him back in action!
