Chelsea next manager odds as Todd Boehly makes Mauricio Pochettino sack decision

Chelsea slumped to yet another disappointing defeat on Tuesday, as the pressure continues to mount the way of Mauricio Pochettino.

Hayden Hackney’s first-half strike ensured Championship outfit Middlesbrough lead the Carabao Cup semi-final tie 1-0 ahead of next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea having spent in excess of £1billion on player transfers over the past 18 months, Pochettino is feeling the heat.

Chelsea have no intention of sacking Pochettino at this moment in time, football.london understands. The Blues’ decision-makers are continuing to back Pochettino and their stance, in that regard, has not changed whatsoever.

Nevertheless, betting site Gambling.com have crunched the numbers and put together a list of leading candidates to replace the Argentinian should he be relieved of his duties, with their latest odds making for some interesting viewing.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is currently the favourite to take over with odds of 7/4. He is shortly followed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who is as short as 2/1 to return for a third spell at a club where he enjoyed plenty of success.

Girona boss Michel Sanchez’s name continues to draw attention too, given his side are currently top of La Liga and are currently fending off advances from heavyweights Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this season. He is priced at 3/1 to take over at Stamford Bridge.
