“Chelsea or no club” – 24-years-old midfielder wants to play for Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is positive he won’t be signing for Newcastle United this summer. The Football Insider report that Newcastle is considering adding Gallagher to their midfield has run into trouble. The player doesn’t want to visit Tyneside.
Gallagher’s career at Chelsea has been amazing. Since 2022, he has consistently been a part of the starting lineup. Throughout the current season, his contributions to 16 goals have been noteworthy. In 49 games, Gallagher has contributed nine assists and seven goals.
Although Gallagher’s performance has drawn a lot of attention, especially from Mauricio Pochettino who wants to include him in the team for the next campaign, there is a chance he may leave. Though talks for an extension have come to a standstill, his deal with Chelsea runs until the summer of 2025.
Newcastle United becomes one of the interested parties hoping to take advantage of the scenario as Chelsea looks to sell him in the summer to preserve financial balance. Gallagher is still reluctant to join the Magpies, however.
Chelsea Midfielder Does Not Want To Move To Newcastle United
Being an academy graduate and guaranteeing a significant return on investment, Gallagher is being sold by the Blues because they want to attain financial stability. Although Chelsea is prepared to split ways, Newcastle United is still looking for midfield reinforcements as they want to turn things around in the next campaign. Even with their attention, Gallagher is adamant about sticking with Eddie Howe’s squad.
To Gallagher, loyalty to his boyhood team is still very important. Should things need to change, however, the English international would rather transfer to one of the London-based teams than Newcastle United. It is not surprise that Gallagher chose Chelsea over Newcastle.
Many times, loyalty beats out attractive offers. That he is reluctant to leave London and has a relationship with Chelsea makes sense. Newcastle’s interest is nice, but Gallagher seems to have his mind made up. Today’s football players are not often loyal. Seeing a footballer put emotion above money is energising. Gallagher’s position is admirable in an age when loyalty is often ignored.
