Chelsea are expected to overhaul their side this summer after an underwhelming Premier League and Champions League campaign last season. They finished 5th in the league and will miss the Champions League in the upcoming season.

The Blues ended the campaign on a bright note after defeating Manchester United in the FA Cup final but the club would like to add reinforcements in key areas in order to strengthen the squad for next season.

Antonio Conte’s future is still uncertain but the Premier League giants are looking to secure new signings as they want to complete the deals as soon as possible.

One of their top priorities is to bolster their midfield in the transfer window as last summer signings Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko struggled to make an impact last term. The English midfielder has also been linked with a summer and the club wants a new player to replace him.

According to La Nuova Sardegna, Chelsea are ready to make offers for Cagliari starlet Nicolò Barella. The club have been monitoring the talented central midfielder for quite a long period of time.

The 21 year old has had a positive season with Cagliari, scoring 6 goals and assisting 1 in 35 appearances. He has been tipped to become the next Radja Nainggolan and is considered as one of the best midfielders in the league.

It is believed that the deal could be completed quickly if Maurizio Sarri is appointed as the club’s new manager as he is a big admirer of him.

Barella is also wanted in Serie A (Roma, Juve and Inter are strongly interested) but Cagliari boss Tommaso Giulini is not going to accept offers below € 40 million.

Liverpool have also shown strong interest in him ahead of the summer transfer window.
