London club could reportedly be about to try a bid of nearly £88m to seal the transfer of Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann to replace Eden Hazard.
The 28-year-old attacker has struggled since joining the Blaugrana from Atletico Madrid this summer, and his future at the Catalan club is already in some doubt.
London club are showing the strongest interest in Antonie and could be prepared to offer nearly £88m to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Griezmann is a world-class forward on his day and could no doubt replace Hazard, who left for Real Madrid this summer with Blues unable to replace him due to their transfer ban.
It stays to be seen if France international would leave Spanish club so soon after joining, but this deal probably wouldn’t happen until the end of the campaign. Chelsea would do well to bolster their squad with this proven talent after relying so much on young players like Abraham, Mount and Christian Pulisic this campaign.
English manager will surely have to improve the Blues situation, however, as they don’t currently look guaranteed to qualify for the next campaign’s Champions League.
It’s hard to imagine French superstar would be set to join the London club without competing in Europe’s top club tournament.
Antoine started this season excellently as he already played six matches, scored two goals and provided two assists in all competitions. He also helped the Les Bleus to win the 2018 World Cup. Griezmann also won Europa League and Spanish Super Cup with Atletico Madrid.
