Chelsea star Reece James is set to be offered a fresh deal by the Blues in the coming months, according to The Telegraph.
The 19-year-old ace, who is now understudy to first-choice right-back, Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta at Chelsea, will reportedly be offered a new deal which will see his salary drastically rise.
He is currently the lowest-paid member of the club’s first-team squad with his new contract set to represent his value and importance to Lampard’s roster.
The England Under-20 international spent the entirety of last campaign on loan at Wigan Athletic, where he netted three goals and provided three assists for the club as they finished 18th in the EFL Championship and avoided relegation to League One.
With the Blues currently under a transfer embargo, manager Frank Lampard will be forced to rely on some of the team’s younger players this season.
Abraham was given the No.9 shirt earlier this summer and opened his EPL account for Chelsea with a well-taken brace versus Norwich City on Saturday.
According to The Telegraph’s report, Tammy is also set to be offered a fresh contract at Stamford Bridge worth a reported £100,000 per week – doubling his current £50,000 per week wages.
Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have both recently signed improved contracts with the west London outfit, clearly signalling the Blues’ trust in their younger stars.
Reece James is certainly a player of massive potential. At 6ft, the full-back looks physically ready for the demands of the Premier League and it will be extremely interesting to see how he progresses in the senior-team at Chelsea when he gets his chance.
