The bookmakers and pundits were expecting Chelsea will be overran at the Etihad Stadium tonight, but the Blues held their ground and could have taken the three points if not for defensive errors.
Chelsea didn’t only give City tough time at the Etihad, the Blues did it playing good football.
For the first time under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City had less than 50% of the possession in a Premier League match.
In the first half, Chelsea had 55% possession to City’s 45%, while the Blues had 53% in the second half.
Speaking about that, Pep Guardiola said:
“Yes, Chelsea are so good. They are an incredible team. It’s Chelsea. Football is becoming like this.
“Most teams and young managers have spirit and nothing to lose. That’s why the football is nice. Chelsea are playing incredibly well.”
