Chelsea set to sell forgotten player who played just 25 minutes despite signing seven-years with Chelsea
Deivid Washington, a forgotten striker for Chelsea, is expected to join to sister club Strasbourg for a price above £17 million.
For under £13 million last summer, the former Santos player made the move to Stamford Bridge.
Under Mauricio Pochettino, he made three senior appearances for Chelsea but was goalless.
And Washington has left for France after failing to make Enzo Maresca’s squad.
L’Equipe claims he is on the verge of being sold to Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
The French side are also owned by Todd Boehly’s Clearlake Consortium.
They already boast Andrey Santos in their squad after the midfielder returned there on loan.
While goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has also joined Strasbourg for the upcoming season.
Chelsea will be sure to keep a close eye on Washington, who is billed as an exciting young attacker.
He netted two goals in 16 games for Santos before last summer’s Stamford Bridge switch.
Washington signed a seven-year contract at Chelsea with the option for a further year.
And there’s every chance he returns to London should he impress at Strasbourg.
Washington’s exit comes after Chelsea appeared to miss out on both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen.
Both men have agreed to join Al-Ahil for a combined £300million and will undergo medicals.
But reports in Saudi Arabia claim there is not room for both strikers at the club.
And that could yet leave the door open for Chelsea to make a late swoop.
