Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has dropped a major hint that he will be returning to Spain this summer.
It would be a shame to see Courtois walk out the door this summer. We sacrificed club legend Petr Cech in order to accommodate the Belgian. Many believed that we had the goalkeeper position sorted for a decade. It has fast become clear that’s not the case.
Courtois’ family still live in Madrid, four-years on from his move to England. It must be incredibly difficult for him to live so far away from them, and reported interest from Real Madrid will no doubt have attracted his attention.
While away with the Belgium national team at the World Cup in Russia, Courtois has been discussing his future. Though he has insisted that no final decision will be made until the competition finishes, Courtois has heavily suggested he will reunite with his children.
He’s quoted by The Sun saying:
“I already have ideas in my head but have put my decision on hold until after the World Cup.”
“My children are the most important thing for me and I have had one and a half years less contact with them.”
“FaceTime is beautiful but seeing them grow up is something else.”
What do you think of these comments, Blues? Is Thibaut set to leave us?
