Frank Lampard is still without a home victory since being appointed Chelsea head coach.
The Blues looked to be on their way to following up the win over Norwich City as they held a 2-0 lead against Sheffield United at the weekend thanks to a brace from Tammy Abraham.
Yet, not for the first time this season, Chelsea failed to hold on to a lead and the newly-promoted side fought back to leave Stamford Bridge with a precious point.
Speaking after the game, Lampard admitted the comeback was inevitable.
“I saw it coming,” Lampard said. “If we were to go out and make a mistake or play how we were playing … it wasn’t bad, the first half, but I felt there were signs that we needed to tighten up.
“I wasn’t happy with the first half. They had gifted us two goals. Our performance was OK. We were in a dangerous position.
It wasn’t a happy half-time. The warning signs were there in my opinion and we didn’t react to that on the pitch.”
Kurt Zouma’s own goal proved to be costly and the mistake left teammate Jorginho crestfallen.
Some eagle-eyed Chelsea supporters uploaded images to Twitter showing the Italy international – who came under criticism last season – on his knees with his hands in his heads following the own goal.
Some fans can say what they want about Jorginho, but this is the kind of reaction you want to see from your players after conceding a late equaliser. He should be captain! pic.twitter.com/Z71n6eUavL
