Maurizio Sarri is still not Chelsea manager, believe it nor not. Antonio Conte still holds the reins, at least officially.
Sarri has been continually linked with the managerial position in recent weeks. Reports from home and abroad have claimed that the deal is imminent, with the media playing a guessing game in order to try and determine the exact date that he will take charge at the club.
Still, the deal hasn’t been completed. Still, Conte is Chelsea manager. We’ve started to wonder whether this will remain the case into next season. Perhaps Conte will be given the opportunity to see out the remainder of his contract.
Italian publication Corriere dello Sport are still convinced that Sarri will take charge. In fact, he’s expected in London today in order to complete the deal.
We’ve seen reports like this before. We’re going to take them with a pinch of salt until official confirmation of his appointment comes.
