Chelsea and Liverpool begin their double-header of fixtures on Wednesday evening, with Carabao Cup third round draw pitting the two sides against one another.
The Blues travel to Anfield as they try to become the first team to prevent Liverpool from winning this season, before Stamford Bridge hosts the Premier League clash between the pair on Saturday.
Maurizio Sarri’s side head into Wednesday’s fixture on something of a downer having dropped their first points of the campaign on Sunday, with the west London outfit unable to secure anything other than a 0-0 draw at West Ham.
One of the big questions heading into the game is whether Sarri and Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, will rotate their line-ups and keep their strongest XIs fresh for Saturday’s Premier League clash.
Sarri proved throughout his time as Napoli boss that he is not overly keen on rotating his first-choice team, and Chelsea played PAOK in the Europa League last week with a much stronger XI than many expected; the likes of Kepa, Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante all started in Greece.
The Italian is expected to stick to his guns on Wednesday despite Chelsea having two games in three days, and talkSPORT.com have taken a look at a potential Chelsea XI for the first of two clashes against Liverpool.
