Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is frustrated by his employers’ reluctance to invest in players over 30.
He has already publicly admitted he would scrap the restrictive stance if he could, given it has caused tension with several members of his squad.
More importantly, it is also frustrating the manager’s attempts to add some badly-needed firepower to his team, in the shape of Gonzalo Higuain.
But looks like Sarri’s sustained efforts have borne the desired fruit.
SARRI-HIGUAIN REUNION
According to CalcioMercato, Higuain could depart AC Milan in the coming hours. Chelsea are currently in the process of trying to offload Alvaro Morata.
It is no secret that Maurizio Sarri is a big fan of the Argentine and wishes to bring him to Chelsea. The reports also suggest that Chelsea have entered talks with Juventus about signing Higuain. The negotiations have been tricky for Chelsea because of the number of clubs involved but reports in Italy suggest a switch is imminent.

The Rossoneri splashed out €18m to take the 31-year-old on a season-long loan from Juventus. A €36m permanent option is built into the deal, which is causing problems.
“HIGUAIN HAS NOT ASKED TO LEAVE MILAN”
Gennaro Gattuso insists Gonzalo Higuain has not asked to leave AC Milan contradicting recent speculation. But he added that he would not feel let down if the striker did move elsewhere.“At this moment, I have to repeat the same words: there are many rumours, but Higuain is training well, working with everyone just fine and is at our disposal,” he said while addressing the press.“We’ll see tomorrow whether he plays or not. He has to decide what to do, how to resolve this issue. But right now he is training with great professionalism. We’ll see.”
“As I said, it’s not easy for a coach to change the idea of a player. So I have to concentrate on putting out the best line-up for the situation and getting the best out of every player. I want to reiterate that Higuain has never told me he wants to leave. I am waiting for that, I am not upset. Being a player for many years, I realise there are moments when we all see things differently and cannot judge how someone else thinks.”
