Chelsea told they should have paid £130m to sign 24-year-old end goals drought star player this summer
Jason Cundy has told Chelsea they should have gone and spent their money to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen this summer.
The Blues continued their wild spending in transfer windows under this ownership, adding plenty of new faces to the squad over the summer.
It’s apparent from the opening two months of the season that there’s still a huge struggle to score goals, though. In fact, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have scored just five goals in six Premier League games so far.
This is why talkSPORT pundit and Chelsea fan Jason Cundy has said they should have signed Victor Osimhen.
He believes that Osimhen, 24, could have been available for Chelsea to snap up in the recent summer window for around £130million.
However, the Nigerian centre-forward decided to stay in Naples and already has three goals in five Serie A appearances this season.
Cundy told talkSPORT: “The hilarious thing about this from the outside looking in is that we still need to spend more money. Osimhen was available in the summer, £130 million, we should have just gone there you go, take it.”
FootballTransfers claimed earlier this month that Chelsea are considered frontrunners to sign Osimhen next summer. He could be the club’s No 1 target to bring to Stamford Bridge to solve the ongoing striker issue.
Osimhen is a proven marksman with 62 goals in 107 Napoli appearances to date. He previously bagged 18 goals in 38 Lille games, too.
The forward looks such a complete player with his pace and power, so we expect he would score a lot of goals in any Premier League XI.
If Chelsea are to dig themselves out of this hole, they desperately need a clinical frontman at the top end of the pitch. This could be quite a painful campaign for supporters if they wait another year to fix it.
