CHELSEA have received a major boost in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir after Lyon dropped him from their matchday squad.
The Blues are finding this summer very difficult when it comes to the transfer market.
The only outfield arrival has been Jorginho, who came as part of a double deal with boss Maurizio Sarri.
However, there have been no other signings, except veteran reserve goalkeeper Rob Green, to revitalise a squad in desperate need of a revamp.
With Sarri trying to introduce a whole new brand of football at Stamford Bridge, the top brass have failed to back him significantly in the transfer market leaving a squad full of holes.
And to make matters worse, star keeper Thibaut Courtois has gone AWOL in an attempt to force a move to Real Madrid.
With two days until the window shuts, time is quickly running out.
But one star chance’s of moving to west London have increased dramatically after a recent turn of events.
Lyon ace Fekir has been touted to leave the Ligue 1 outfit this season and links initially saw a move to Liverpool happening.
But a failed medical meant it never happened, and now the Blues are in the hunt.
And they have been boosted by the fact that Lyon have dropped him from their first matchday of the season.
Fekir shot to stardom last season after being handed the captain’s armband by his club and went on to score 23 goals.
His sensational form earned him a spot in France’s World Cup squad – which went on to win the tournament following a 4-2 victory over Croatia.
