Chelsea transfer news: How Blues may line up on the opening day – five new signings

CHELSEA are hoping for better campaign this time around having finally got Maurizio Sarri on board, but how will they line up on the opening day of the season?

Chelsea will be missing Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, who could both join Real Madrid, after their World Cup exerts.

The Belgium duo were involved until the final weekend of the tournament, playing against England in the third place playoff.

Sarri will already be thinking of life after the pair, with Courtois looking like signing for the European champions, and Hazard on their radar too.

The Italian, who replaced Antonio Conte last week, has already brought in Jorginho and is eyeing more signings for his side who finished fifth last term.

So how will they line up against Huddersfield?

The Chelsea side remains a mystery with Sarri only being appointed last week but he has already snapped up Jorginho and is eyeing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to play with him midfield.

N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud will be missing after playing in the World Cup final while Daniele Rugani may have completed his deal in time.

Kasper Schmeichel is favourite to replace Courtois in the sticks while Sarri is also keen on Gonzalo Higuain after Alvaro Morata struggled last season.

Sarri however may continue to make moves in the market up until the August 9 deadline.

After missing out on Champions League football last season, Chelsea will have to settle for the Europa League.

A disappointing campaign for the reigning Premier League champions saw Conte’s men finish in fifth place and a full 30 points behind newly-crowned winners Manchester City.

The Blues salvaged some pride with an FA Cup final win against Manchester United in what turne dout to be Conte’s final game in charge.

More will be expected from former former Napoli boss Sarri as Abramovich eyes more silverware.
